Once there, they must make their way to the Ural of Erankorun, in order to convince her (or is it him?!) to join the rest of the realms in Kendanerum. The Founders are on their way to destroy Kendanerum. Erankorun has been mysteriously closed off to outsiders for a long time, so Delwyn must convince them to join the realms and present a united front.
When I created the Realms of Kendanerum, I was inspired by my own experiences with dreams, narcolepsy (hypnopompic and hypnagogic hallucinations) as well as astral projection. I also drew from research into mythology, psychology and history (including current events).
Even though all the Realms of Kendanerum are seemingly "non-material" worlds (to most humans/Aletheians) - some Aletheians (like Delwyn) are able to traverse these supposed realms of thought in physical form.
Onesol is the dream world - the realm of the Collective Unconscious
Alusol is the realm of hallucinations - where visions and inspiration come from
Meditar is the realm of meditation - a place for contemplation and revelation
Akasha is the realm of Karma - the Hall of records and hub for transit to the Seven Heavens
Nidar is the Underworld - once the source of dark Matter; now a hellish realm of retribution
The Seven Heavens is just that - where good souls cycle through on their way to Nirvana
Erankorun is the realm of animal spirits - a safe haven (heaven) for animals
Aletheia (Earth) is the material realm - where Aletheians (humans) reside
Aletheians believe that they rule supreme and that the realms are either figments of their imagination, sources of inspiration or tools for controlling other Aletheian minds. Some Aletheians believe that the realms are contained within their own minds and some believe that they either travel to the realms via astral projection, dreams, hallucinations or death.
What the majority of Aletheians don't know is that the realms (known collectively as "Kendanerum") are all "material" - in various forms. Physicality has different meanings in different realms, so they're not necessarily "realms of thought".
With Totem Shift, I'd already built towards the final, unexplored realm of animal spirits. I deliberately left it till last as I wanted to create a safe haven for animal spirits; a final resting place - away from the horrors inflicted by Aletheians.
I'm continuously horrified with constant reports of terrorized and tortured animals. I absolutely loathe seeing the awful photos that animal rights activists post on their websites and social media platforms, however - I also understand the necessity to alert the world about the atrocities caused by beings who are supposed to be "stewards" of the planet.
The problem is - when animal rights groups advertise about their mission, the imagery they use tends to turn most people away in disgust. It can have the opposite effect. On the other hand, without the evidence, their missions would hold less water and people would continue to turn a blind eye.
With Totem Shift, I'm hoping to at least touch on the horrific treatment of animals and the decimation of the earth. The Realms are in peril because of human neglect and failure to maintain a healthy, happy planet - including the creatures living on it. The Ural of Erankorun tells Delwyn how the very presence of Aletheians has poisoned the Realms - which is what alerted the Founders in the first place.
The Founders tried hard, over the centuries, to thwart the horrific path that Aletheians continued to tread. Free will has been used and abused and the Founders are tired of trying to save us. Now - with Aletheians infiltrating all the realms in various ways - Kendanerum is considered a failed experiment.
I'd like to take the opportunity to ask for your nomination of Totem Shift on Kindle Scout. if successful, Totem Shift will be published by Kindle Scout and I will receive a small advance to use towards marketing the book and at the same time - help to raise awareness of animal rights.
I plan to do this by donating a percentage of sales - each quarter - to various animal rights groups, such as: (pics are clickable links)
Please feel free to comment or contact me re: other groups that would be worthy recipients and share your thoughts either here or in the forum. I'm planning to send newsletters on a regular basis, so sign up for my newsletter.
Here's the link to "Totem Shift" on Kindle Scout - where you can read an excerpt. If selected, all who vote will receive a free copy (Kindle Edition) of "Totem Shift"!
