Of course, Totem Shift is Book 3 in the Storming Archives. Delwyn discovers a mirror portal to the world of dreams and the collective unconscious in Delwyn of the Realms, then she travels to the hellish realm of Nidar to face her Last Sorrow in Portal Stormer. In Totem Shift, Delwyn and the Stormers learn how to shapeshift in preparation for the ultimate mission: to perform a subtle storm to Erankorun (the realm of animal spirits).
Once there, they must make their way to the Ural of Erankorun, in order to convince her (or is it him?!) to join the rest of the realms in Kendanerum. The Founders are on their way to destroy Kendanerum. Erankorun has been mysteriously closed off to outsiders for a long time, so Delwyn must convince them to join the realms and present a united front.
When I created the Realms of Kendanerum, I was inspired by my own experiences with dreams, narcolepsy (hypnopompic and hypnagogic hallucinations) as well as astral projection. I also drew from research into mythology, psychology and history (including current events).

With Totem Shift, I'd already built towards the final, unexplored realm of animal spirits. I deliberately left it till last as I wanted to create a safe haven for animal spirits; a final resting place - away from the horrors inflicted by Aletheians.

There's no point in going into depth about the depravity that humans sink to - especially in their treatment of the animal kingdom. Those of us who consider ourselves animal lovers already know about the horrors they suffer at the hands of sociopathic "humans". Even some pet owners who claim to be animal lovers have no understanding in terms of dignity, freedom and rights for the creatures of the earth.
I'm continuously horrified with constant reports of terrorized and tortured animals. I absolutely loathe seeing the awful photos that animal rights activists post on their websites and social media platforms, however - I also understand the necessity to alert the world about the atrocities caused by beings who are supposed to be "stewards" of the planet.
The problem is - when animal rights groups advertise about their mission, the imagery they use tends to turn most people away in disgust. It can have the opposite effect. On the other hand, without the evidence, their missions would hold less water and people would continue to turn a blind eye.
With Totem Shift, I'm hoping to at least touch on the horrific treatment of animals and the decimation of the earth. The Realms are in peril because of human neglect and failure to maintain a healthy, happy planet - including the creatures living on it. The Ural of Erankorun tells Delwyn how the very presence of Aletheians has poisoned the Realms - which is what alerted the Founders in the first place.
The Founders tried hard, over the centuries, to thwart the horrific path that Aletheians continued to tread. Free will has been used and abused and the Founders are tired of trying to save us. Now - with Aletheians infiltrating all the realms in various ways - Kendanerum is considered a failed experiment.
